Bashful Bites: Milka L'il Stars Crispees

Here's another Bashful Bites series brought to you by me-Bella Vivere! :)

Today's post starts with a brand known for its use of lilac packaging & a spotted white and lilac cow called the Milka cow. The company was originally created by Jacobs Suchard of Suchard, until 1990, when Kraft (an American conglomerate) purchased it out, making it American-owned. Even with new ownership, they've kept the chocolate the way it's always been: affordable, creamy and delicious. Their recipes are the ones used from over 40+ years ago and it's only been getting better. You can find their products in any large supermarket chain and drugstore (Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc.) While the variety will range from store to store, it's pretty much up to chance which flavors you'll find at each. For me personally, I've seen lots of Milka products in Target and Walmart, so definitely check those places out to see a wider variety :). I've been eating Milka chocolates for as long as I can remember, so it's about time I write up a review on one of my most favorite products from them.

Let's get started:

♛PACKAGING (5/5): I simply love Milka's packaging because of the vibrant lilac colors. When you're in a candy/chocolate aisle, Milka products simply pop out of the shelf because they're lively. Once your eyes hit the products, you can't turn away because of the various tantalizing flavors they offer and *BAM* you're hooked. Also, I really like their packaging because it gives a detailed image of what you're actually eating. It really is a little circular ball with biscuit cookie pieces inside. Also, who could forget that little cow in the corner?

♛TASTE (5/5): If t were possible to give them a higher rating than a 5, these would definitely deserve it. From the Milka line, these are my absolute favorite and I ALWAYS stock up on them every single time I go to Wal-Mart ($1.92). From the L'il Stars line, I've only ever seen hazelnut and raisins, there could be more or less, but they're the three that I ever see. (I'm starting to sound like Dr. Seuss). Anyways, let's talk about the chocolate first. American chocolate and European chocolate is INDEFINITELY different-European chocolate is made using more milk, hence making it tastes more creamier, smooth & has a stronger cocoa taste. It is a complete 180 degree spin from your typical Hershey's bar and what not-which is much sweeter to suit the American palate, and also does not include a higher percentage of milk. Before I get into the logistics of it, Milka chocolate is indefinitely creamy and smooth, and these "malt balls" are no different. The chocolate pairs perfectly with the airy, light & crispy biscuit hidden on the inside. You hear each crunch as you make your way to the bottom of the bag-it's simply heavenly. Perfect amount of chocolate and biscuit ratio per bite. The cookie/biscuit itself is not dense or heavy, but rather has bubbles and crunches in all the right ways.

♛RANDOM: If you're on a diet-BE SURE TO GO BY THE SERVING SIZE....because if you're like me, one bag just happens to "disappear" really quickly. It's like a ghost ate your entire bag and you're wondering where it went.

If you've never tried these, definitely go pick a bag up for yourself. They're better than Whoppers (USA) and Malteasers (UK)!! Thank goodness I always have a bag in my house, because even on a diet, you could always use a light pick-me-up.

Crunch awayyyyy,
Sandy
