I hope you're all doing well and are gearing up for Labor Day Weekend! Whether you're going to be going on family vacations, staying at home and relaxing, I hope that you'll all be safe and having fun at the same time.
For me, I get to have a five day weekend-which is pretty sweet if you ask me! And speaking of sweet, I recently stopped by a new frozen yogurt shop (even though they recently had their one year anniversary) & wanted to share my review with you all. I would've never known about this little store if it hadn't been for Scoutmob, and if I hadn't actively been searching for a frozen yogurt shop while I was in the neighborhood on a hot and humid day. Luckily, Cowlicks was opened and looked super inviting, so I had to check it out:
Let's get started:
♬Yummy! Large cookie dough chunks, fresh strawberries and blueberries, maraschino cherries, toffee bits, mixed nuts, mochi, and m&ms and oreo pieces on the bottom.
♬Exterior of cowlicks-super cute typography
♬FOOD (4/5): The frozen yogurt here was average, in my opinion. The flavors were similar to those that you would find at Menchie's, where it's really geared towards younger children and their tastes. In my cup, I got half strawberry and half vanilla, and then topped it with a chockful of fresh fruits, mochi (rice cakes), large cookie dough chunks, and some other chocolate goodies (brownies, cookies) towards the bottom of the cup. The yogurt itself was standard, a little bit on the sweet side, but still yummy nonetheless. I wish that the strawberry had a stronger fruity flavor because the strawberry I had was a bit subtle. The mochi, on the other hand, was stale. Typically, it's an asian topping, since rice cakes are relatively popular and common to eat with desserts. If you go to Yoforia, Yogurtland, or any other frozen yogurt shop in Atlanta, it's usually in the toppings bar. It could have been an accident that it was left too long, but rice cakes can't stay (unless properly stored) soft for more than 2-3 days, it's just the nature of it. Everything else though, was great. What's different about Cowlicks is that they offer yogurt floats! Yes, you heard me! In addition to the 10+ flavors of frozen yogurt flavors, you can mix your favorite yogurt with your favorite soda! And-to help you out, they provide a list of some of their popular flavors for you to mix, it looks quite fun. On my next visit here, which will be soon, since I'm always next door at DiAmano chocolates (BEST chocolates in Atlanta!), I'm definitely going to make my own float.
♬SERVICE (5/5): On the day of my visit, there was only one employee working the front. It wasn't too busy, but there was a large family there enjoying their frozen treats. It's mostly self-service, like any standard frozen yogurt shop. Just don't get a little too excited about the toppings, I know I always do. The gentleman working the counter was very friendly, nice & had no trouble letting me use my Scoutmob deal here...WIN! I paid less than $3 for this huge cup!
♬DECOR (5/5): I don't remember too much of the decor here, but it's a cute little shop with bright pink wallpapers and cute cow cartoons everywhere. Towards the back are the frozen yogurt varieties and a soda machine (to make the floats), and then it wraps around to the toppings bar, and at the end, is the counter where you pay before you sinfully indulge. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which I really like-I personally love eating my froyo outside because I start to get chills when I'm eating it under air conditioning.
Overall, I really like Cowlicks! While I wouldn't go out of my way to grab a cup of frozen yogurt from here considering I live over 30+ minutes away and am a Yogurtland girl for life, I would definitely stop by if I'm in town picking up a box of chocolates next door. It's very kid friendly, cute and offers its customers something more than just your own self-serve yogurt. On my visit, I believe it was $0.42-$0.46, somewhere around there, which isn't bad at all (considering the froyo store near my college charged $0.56/oz-CRAZY!?). Definitely stop by if you're in the neighborhood and having a sweet tooth.
Have a sweet weekend,
-Sandy
