BELLINA ALIMENTARI TO OPEN OCTOBER 19 AT PONCE CITY MARKET
Authentic Italian Gastronomic Experience Awaits at Market's Newest and Largest Tenant

ATLANTA – Tal Postelnik Baum believes a busy day doesn’t mean having to compromise on the quality of the food you eat. That’s why the architect with a passion for making a difference in everyday life through food has created Bellina Alimentari, a unique KitchenBarMarket and Culinary Club opening Oct. 19 in the Central Food Hall of Ponce City Market.

Dining options abound in the 4,000 square-foot space designed by Smith Hanes Studio.  Inspired by the cafes and small shops of Northern Italy, the overall feel of Bellina Alimentari is warm and inviting, with an eclectic design and neutral tones to highlight the food. In fact, everything about Bellina Alimentari is designed around the Italian phrase "la vita è bontà," which means "food as a way of life." Baum and her team, including executive chef David Berry, general manager Jim Monast and creative director Alice Noel Fabi are focused on staying true to authentic Italian cuisine by offering delicious and affordable food.

“Chef Berry likes to say he was influenced by his Southern comfort food roots, but there’s clearly Italian in his soul,” Baum says. “The heady aromas of his sauces slow-simmering on the stove never fail to take me back to my years in Florence, Italy."

Some of Baum’s favorite menu items include maltagliati della sorellina (house-made maltagliati pasta with mushroom ragù and crispy chicken bites); seasonal vegetable dishes featured in the antipasti bar; and Francesina, a traditional Tuscan pulled beef and sweet onion stew, served over creamy polenta.
Diners can choose a freshly prepared meal in the Kitchen to take on-the-go or eat casually in the collective dining hall of Ponce City Market, or treat themselves to a more intimate meal in the Bar, a 14-seat full-service dining area where they’ll also be privy to a wide selection of Italian wine, beer and craft cocktails.  The wine bar features custom barstools fashioned after a vintage stool from Milan.

Eager to please the cook-it-yourself crowd, Baum has builtin ample room for the Market, a gourmet destination filled with a diverse assortment of fresh pastas, the finest Italian imported products and locally sourced, made-for-Bellina Alimentari meats and cheeses.

“I’ve had a wonderful time reaching out to my contacts in Italy to order the best olive oils, tomato sauce, spreads and other items,” notes Italian-born Fabi. “This doesn’t feel like work; it’s more a labor of love.”

Fabi is also working with local companies like the Spotted Trotter to offer in-house meats and cheeses. “Beyond everyday and special occasion cooking, the Market is an ideal place to come find unique gifts for friends and family who love great food,” she says.

One example of the Market's unique gifts is an American ambrosia maple serving board, hand-crafted for Bellina Alimentari by Atlanta carpenter Koby Downs. Another local business Baum and her team supports is Mudfire, which developed signature ceramic plateware used in the Kitchen and Bar and sold in the Market.

In the Culinary Club, set off by an arched steel and glass enclosure, Bellina Alimentari offers a variety of workshops and cooking classes, in addition to hosting special events and private parties.“We want to create a community of like-minded people who share our passion for cooking,” Baum says. “Admittedly, I also hope to inspire people to learn just how easy it is to prepare fresh, healthy meals with simple ingredients.”

The classic palette created by Smith Hanes Studio features walnut wood tambour, marble counters, aged brass, hand-hammered metal and amber glass.  The designers worked with some of Atlanta's best artisans to create the space, including a hand-patinated barfront by Tommy Taylor, forged chandeliers featuring metalwork by Andrew Crawford, hand blown glass lights by Janke Studios and a towering wine bar constructed by Wood Mill Lab.

Bellina Alimentari, which loosely translates to "lovely specialty food store," is located at 675 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, in the Central Food Hall of Ponce City Market. For restaurant updates, follow Bellina Alimentari on FacebookInstagram and Twitter. For additional information, visit bellina-alimentari.com or call 404-330-9933.

REVIVAL HOSTS BACON EXPLOSION ON OCT. 24 TO CELEBRATE PURE PORK AWESOMENESS
Kevin Gillespie’s Decatur Restaurant Partners With BBQ Addicts’ Jason Day for a Swine-Filled Shindig

ATLANTA –On Saturday, Oct. 24, Atlanta chef, restaurateur, speaker and cookbook author Kevin Gillespie is teaming up with BBQ Addicts’ Jason Day to pay respect to the pig with a Bacon Explosion event at Gillespie’s newest restaurant, Revival. From noon to 3 p.m., guests can savor the bacon-wrapped, bacon-stuffed barbecue sausage dish that puts all others to shame.

“It’s no secret that I love working with pork, and Bacon Explosion is the ultimate tribute to pork,” says Gillespie. “Guests are in for a real treat when they try Jason’s original version of this indulgent dish.”

The porcine party will take place on Revival’s front porch and in the Decatur restaurant's front yard, where Day will be cooking the original version of his infamous Bacon Explosion - a pound of basket-weaved bacon wrapped around two pounds of juicy sausage filled with a pound of fried bacon crumbles. Gillespie will serve additional snacks and all will be paired with craft beers from Atlanta’s own Wild Heaven brewery. A variety of Angry Orchard hard ciders, a great pairing for pork, will also be served while George Norman & Friends entertains with live music.

This isn’t the first time Gillespie has partnered with Day; the two met in 2013 while filming The Bacon Show on Tasted.comand discovered their mutual passion for pork. Gillespie’s own version of the Bacon Explosion dish appears in his second cookbook,“Pure Pork Awesomeness: Totally Cookable Recipes From Around the World,” where he credits Day for creating the original recipe.

“Pure Pork Awesomeness,” the follow-up to Gillespie’s successful cookbook debut “Fire in My Belly,” is organized like the pig itself - by cuts - and offers not just recipes but tips on buying the best-tasting pork available, differences among heritage breeds of pigs and what to do with new cuts like “rib-eye of pork.”Readers will come to agree with Gillespie that whether it's pork chop one day, pulled pork another or cured bacon the next, pig offers a completely different taste with each creation.

Tickets for this event are $30 per person, which includes food and two drinks, or $50 per person for food, two drinks and a copy of Gillespie’s “Pure Pork Awesomeness”cookbook. Attendance is limited to 100 people. To purchase tickets, visit Xorbia.

Revival offers a proper version of the traditional Sunday dinner served family-style and executed with precise techniques. The restaurant is located at 129 Church Street in Decatur and serves dinner Monday – Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday – Saturday from 5-10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Reservations are accepted but not required and can be made online or by calling the restaurant at 470-225-6770. Additional information can be found at revivaldecatur.com. For more updates, follow Revival on TwitterInstagram and Facebook.

In addition to creating the Bacon Explosion, Jason Day is also the founder of the Burnt Finger BBQ competition team and author of the cookbook “BBQ Makes Everything Better.” For more information on the BBQ Addicts’ adventures, visit their blogor FacebookTwitter, and Instagram feeds.

WILLY’S MEXICANA GRILL BRINGS FRESH MEX TO ROSWELL
AND A SECOND KENNESAW LOCATION

New Restaurants to Offer Online Ordering and Catering Options

ATLANTA – Not content to rest on the laurels of its recent 20th anniversary celebration, Willy’s Mexicana Grill continues to grow. The Atlanta-based fast-casual restaurant is bringing its signature hand-rolled, California-style burritos, thin and crispy tortilla chips and freshly blended salsas to new locations in Kennesaw and Roswell this fall.

The new Kennesaw restaurant seats 78 patrons inside and 48 on the sunny outdoor patio. The 2,986-square-foot space, located at 600 Chastain Road in the Village at Townpark shopping center, is opening late October.

“While we still have our restaurant on Barrett Parkway, this location brings us closer to Kennesaw State University,” says Willy’s founder and CEO Willy Bitter. “We’re looking forward to adding more of our fresh flavors and ingredients to the neighborhood and creating opportunities to get involved in the community.”

In Roswell, the 2,493-square-foot space will seat 84 patrons indoors and 20 on the outdoor patio. The restaurant, located at 660 West Crossville Road in the Stonebridge Station shopping center, is set to open in mid-November and will be the first Willy's in the North Fulton city. “Roswell is a vibrant community with great schools and parks,” Bitter says, “and we are excited to finally open a Willy’s here!”

What’s more, customers at both locations can take advantage of online ordering and catering services. Willy’s catering is available for self-serve and full-service events and offers such options as fajita, taco and nacho bars that allow each guest to customize their own order. All hardware and paper products are included, and everything is disposable for easy cleanup. Set-up is included with delivery, or catering orders can be picked up at the store. To place an order, call 404-422-7107 or visit willys.com.

Willy's Mexicana Grill is beloved throughout metro Atlanta for its made-to-order burritos and laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. Both new locations will feature Willy’s famous Salsa Bar and new menu favorites such as the Baja Burrito (a chicken- or steak-filled tortilla stuffed with cheese, grilled peppers and onions, served with beans and rice on the side) and the crispy Frito® Burrito (Adobe chicken, Fritos corn chips, rice, pinto beans and sour cream) — both of which come smothered in a chipotle sauce and Willy’s popular cheese dip.

All menu items are made from scratch, on-site, using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. Signature stuffed burritos, fully loaded nachos, tasty tacos and crisp salads are prepared in front of the customer and can be customized to any taste with more than 20 fresh, flavorful toppings. Guests at both the new Kennesaw and Roswell locations can wash down their meal with delicious homemade lemonades, including raspberry, mango and prickly pear flavors.

About Willy’s Mexicana Grill
The fast-casual concept, Willy’s Mexicana Grill, was started by Willy Bitter, an entrepreneur who fell in love with California-style burritos after living in San Francisco and visiting the Mission District in the 1990s. He brought the idea for a new style of Mexican restaurants back to Atlanta and opened his first Willy’s in 1995. Willy’s is growing responsibly and steadily, with 25 restaurants presently in the metro-Atlanta area and Athens, Georgia. For more information, visit willys.com.

Atlanta’s Organic Dinner Kit Delivery Service Features Recipes from
Gunshow and Revival Chefs for Restaurant-Quality Meals at Home

ATLANTA – October is Red Beard Month at Garnish & Gather. For one month only, four Red Beard Restaurants’ chefs are providing dinner recipes that customers can prepare in 30 minutes or less at home thanks to the meal delivery service’s local, farm-fresh ingredients and chef-created cooking instructions. As part of Garnish & Gather’s "Be the Chef" series, cookbook author and chef/owner Kevin Gillespie of Gunshow and Revival and his team are helping customers transform their home dinners into restaurant-worthy meals.

“The concept behind Garnish & Gather is one that is close to my heart,” says Gillespie. “I was inspired to open my second restaurant, Revival, because of the family-style dining experiences I had at my grandmother’s house as a child. I wanted to encourage that tradition of gathering together at the table and spending time with loved ones just as Garnish & Gather does.”

The delivery service aims to connect more people with wholesome, locally grown foods, teach creative cooking techniques and give people their time back by making dinner simple again. Garnish & Gather's dinner kits include all the raw ingredients needed to create a home-cooked meal.
Atlantans can choose from a weekly menu of five new chef-created recipes, and the resulting kits are ready to be picked up or delivered to a home/office location the following Monday. Dinner kits will keep for four to five days in the refrigerator.

The schedule of Red Beard Month recipes and ordering dates is as follows:

“Working with Red Beard Restaurants is a natural fit for us,” says Garnish & Gather’s vice president of community Danielle Moore, who fosters relationships with local farmers and happily tests recipes to match the local harvest. “Chef Kevin empowers his chefs to use their creativity, and we try to do the same thing for our home chefs - empower them to fall in love with cooking creatively.”

GUNSHOW TEAM LAUNCHES GUNPOWDER FINISHING SALT WITH BEAUTIFUL BRINY SEA
Chefs Kevin Gillespie and Joey Ward Team with Atlanta-Based Company on High-Powered Seasoning

ATLANTA– Finishing touches are critical, particularly in the restaurant business.  Atlanta chef, restaurateur, speaker and cookbook author Kevin Gillespie knows this well, which is one reason he and Gunshow executive chef Joey Ward decided to take aim at hitting new heights in flavor with Gunpowder Finishing Salt.  A spice blend crafted in partnership with Atlanta-based Beautiful Briny Sea, a company that creates finishing salts and sugars for seasoning, the blend includes Hawaiian volcanic salt with chipotle, black pepper, garlic, onion, sumac and more, the tangy spice mix has a mineral clean finish with smoky, residual heat.

“Joey and I wanted to create the ultimate umami flavor bomb,” Gillespie says. “Beautiful Briny Sea offered us free reign of their entire ‘spice library’ to experiment, and we think the result amps up any dish without changing the flavor. It goes especially well with grilled meats, fried foods, barbecue or any foods lacking deliciousness."

Gillespie and Ward had another reason for partnering with the local artisan dry goods company – it is part of their restaurant company's mission. "Red Beard Restaurants was founded with the idea to support other local businesses. Beautiful Briny Sea is a growing Atlanta company working to create great products and represent the South, and we want to play a part in that," Ward says. "Plus, the ‘Gunpowder’ we created with them is just all-around delicious; it will make your tongue wag."
Gunpowder Finishing Salt is sold in a 5-oz. gold tin reminiscent of a BB pellet container for $15. It is available in the restaurant and online.

Gunshow is located at 924 Garrett Street. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.Guests may park in the Glenwood Park parking lot and on the street. For more information, visit gunshowatl.com or call 404-380-1886.

ATLANTA– French pastry connoisseur, Macaron Queen is set to expand from its signature carts to full service Macaron boutique bars throughout 2016. ABOUT THE MACARON QUEEN
Macaron Queen, Atlanta’s premier macaron boutique, is the brainchild of the mother- daughter team, Finia Jahangard and Nina Chteoui. What started out as a personal passion to make these delectable treasures for close friends and family, chef Jahangard quickly found herself making these treats for private parties, food services and local restaurants, earning her name in Atlanta as the Macaron Queen. Ingredients and combinations used for all macaron and pastries are carefully selected so that each hand-crafted treat is not only delicious but high in protein, low in fat and calories and gluten-free. In only a few short years, the Macaron Queen has expanded to Lenox Mall, Perimeter Mall, Revelator Coffee, Tiny Bubbles Tea in Marietta, Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter, and Mango Six of Duluth.
