September 2015 Love With Food Box

Hey readers,

I know what you're thinking--why am I just now posting my September LWF box when the October box is bound to arrive anytime next week? Well, the answer's pretty simple-I've just been super busy, but at least now I've had the chance to try everything in the box to provide ya'll with a more complete and thorough review to make up for the late post. So I received my box mid-September and was really looking forward to it since the sneak peek video they posted on their YouTube page showed snacks from companies they've yet to feature before. And with September being the month that students from Coast to Coast are all back in school, the "Smarty Pants" theme was perfect! Now stay tuned to see if the snacks matched up with the fun theme!

What is Love With Food? SIGN UP HERE: (1st box for ONLY $6). It's a monthly subscription service similar to Birchbox and Ipsy where you receive a box filled with 8+ gourmet snacks, instead of beauty products (possibly more if you with the deluxe/gluten-free boxes!) Each month has a special theme (May: Fiesta Fiesta, June: Saturday in the Park, July: Surfin' USA, etc...) where the snacks are centered around that theme. The NEW lower prices are $9.99/month for the tasting box (annual subscription: $7.99/month), $19.95/month for the deluxe box (annual subscription: $16.50/month) and $24.99/month for the gluten-free box (annual subscription: $19.99/month). To date, LWF has donated over 700,000+ meals to food banks across the US! How AWESOME is that?! They're so close to ONE million! You get an awesome box filled with delectable treats & you're doing good! What's NOT to love about this box and what they stand for?

Let's get started:

❀Packaging

❀September's Theme: Smarty Pants

❀Information Pamphlet

❀Adult Complete Vitamin Pack by SmartyPants: Who said only kids can get away with gummy vitamins? These fruity bites have enough good stuff likeOmega 3s and fiber to please any doctor

❀Sea Salt Caramel Apple Granola by Bear Naked: This stuff tastes like it belongs on a decadent dessert-but with whole grain oats, it's great brain food combined with apple-y goodness

❀Mini Peanut Butter Clutter by Jimmy Bar!: This bar's got all the yummy peanut butter flavor in an after-school snack, without the and stuff like added sugar or preservatives

❀Cookie Thins by Mrs. Thinster's: What's more comforting after a long school day than cookies? With no GMOs or artificial flavors, this is one crispy treat you can feel good about

❀Gluten Free Original Mini Pretzel Crisps by Snack Factory: All the crunchy, salty goodness of pretzels minus the gluten. Perfect for stashing in a backpack for recess or munching while tackling math homework

❀Cheddar N' Stuff Super Crackers by Funley's Delicious: These bites are deliciously cheesy and packed with vitamin D and calcium-and your kids won't even realize they're eating broccoli too. A+ snacking

❀Snapea Crisps by Harvest Snaps: Yes, they're veggies. But the kids won't even care after tasting these salty, crunchy, fresh bites. Keep 'em in the glove compartment for the carpool!

❀Fruit Snacks by YumEarth Organics: These will make the kids think they're getting one over on you at snacktime-except they're actually made with natural flavors and no gluten. Surprise!

❀Everything in this month's box!

❀Thoughts: Personally, I thought this box was just okay-it wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't my favorite either, mainly because of the Snapea Crisps and the YumEarth fruit snacks---two snacks that we've seen used over and over again in our past boxes! I've mentioned this before time and again, but it absolutely irks me when we get repeats in subscription boxes. I'm usually more understanding if it's a different flavor of the same snack, but when it's the exact same product (same brand, same item, same flavor), that's when I get frustrated because there are SO many brands out there they could feature and introduce to us, but don't. Don't get me wrong though, both of those items are fantastic-I always have a bag of the tomato basil and caesar flavored Snapea crisps around me at home, as well as the fruit snacks any time I make a trip to Whole Foods-so they're good, just not something I wanna see every time I get a box. Moving on, the cookie thins were probably my favorite item this month. They were thin, crunchy and crispy, which was perfect for me because that's actually how I prefer my cookies. I haven't seen this brand in stores yet, but will definitely be picking up a few other flavors, especially chocolate chip, when I do. Next on the list were the pretzel crisps, a snack that I've been a huge fan of over the years. The minis are adorable and it's nice to see that they now offer a gluten-free version of their original flavor. I really hope to see them make the minis in all of their different flavors, especially the honey mustard and buffalo wings variety-these go great with dips and spreads! The vitamins were pretty standard-they had a nice firm chew to them, but I wouldn't feel the need to purchase it on my own. Again, not a fan of the whole "sample" item. Moving on, the sea salt caramel apple granola was delicious-plenty of crunchy oats, bits of caramel, dried apples and a generous pinch of sea salt-this was the perfect balance of sweet & salty and ended up going right on top of my apple pie flavored ice cream-YUM! I'm definitely a fan of this Bear Naked granola flavor than the coconut almond curry flavor we received the previous month and have already picked up a large pack of it at my local Target. While I received a few Jimmy Bars before in a different subscription box, I don't recall being a fan of the flavor I received. To my surprise, the peanut butter clutter was delicious and I especially loved the addition of the crispy rice and explosion of peanut butter flavor, complete with diced peanuts throughout the bar. I'm really looking forward to discovering their other flavors, particularly their playfully named "Super Hip Chocolate Chip" and "How Bout Dem Apples" flavors. The last item in the box was the super crackers from Funley's Delicious. These were much better than what I had originally expected, since I didn't know what to expect with broccoli being an ingredient in a cheese-flavored snack. Although they reminded me of a healthier version of Cheez-Its, I still really enjoyed them and thought that the little ol' grandpa on each of the hexagon-shaped crackers was absolutely adorable! And after a quick google search, I learned that these super crackers also come in cornbread, ranch and pizza flavors-WHAT?! I am, without a doubt, going to have to track down each and every one of those amazing flavors! If anyone knows where I can find them in stores, please let me know! :). In all, while I appreciated the newer snacks in this month's box, it would've been a perfect 10/10 had they not included those two repeat items. However, I will say that LWF has stepped up their game compared to the boxes they were sending out at the beginning of 2015, that's for sure! Now that the weather's getting cooler, I can't wait to see more healthy chocolates and candies in our upcoming boxes! And can you believe it? Only THREE more boxes until 2016 is here-CRAZY!?

Of course I always have to ask: What was your favorite product in this month's box? Least favorite product?

Have a beautiful day,
-Sandy
