Hope you all have been having a great weekend so far! I know my family and I are-especially because this is the FIRST weekend in a very long time where we haven't seen an enormous amount of rainfall and the sun is actually shining in good ol' Georgia. Since my parents are off on Sundays, we usually dedicate the entire day to spending time together & holding game night-it's pretty much a tradition. I don't know about you all, but tradition here in my family means my dad's infamous chocolate and caramel sundaes on Sunday, which joyously brings me to introduce to you all today's Delightful Bites company, Happy Goat Caramel.
Founded by Michael Winnike, Happy Goat Caramel's founder, chief executive goat & part-time confectioner, had been meticulously experimenting and searching around for that perfect ingredient. Through his journey to find this mysterious ingredient, only one captivated his attention so much that he decided to build a company based upon that foundation. The ingredient was goat milk, which Winnike describes as “rich and complex I knew that I had to explore goat milk’s potential from the first taste. Goat milk elevates childhood candies into deeply sensuous treats.” The company prides itself on making the best caramels in the world and using only the finest ingredients they can get their hands on to create their artisan caramels & caramel sauce. From the Kosher certified 100% all-natural grade-A quality goat milk (no antibiotics or hormones!) used to create each of their delicious caramels to the great price, quality ingredients and careful craftsmanship, it's no wonder why their caramels have been all the rave in the culinary world.

♔PACKAGING: Elegant and very charming. Each caramel was individually wrapped with plastic cellophane and then packaged inside of a plastic flip box with their gorgeously labeled logo wrapping over it. The goat itself, along with the beautiful typography gives it that elegant look without going overboard on the packaging alone. The real treasure is what's inside these boxes, and that idea clearly shines because of the way they packaged their treats. If you've stopped by my blog before, you know how I've continuously mentioned how much I love it when companies wrap their goods in clear packaging-meaning that there's nothing to hide because you see how much love goes into creating their product! From the packaging alone, it's easy to tell that absolutely none of their products are made using an assembly-line technique, and that each product alone is carefully packaged and wrapped, just like how their caramels are made, carefully & delicately. The jars of caramel sauces also make for a great gift, packaged in a slender jar but filled with ooey gooey caramel goodness-easy to just dip your favorite snack foods into, top cupcakes with, or use on your favorite ice creams like my family.
♔TASTE: I was completely blown away! Mind you, caramels made with cow's milk and caramels made with goat's milk taste completely different. While I've always loved gourmet caramels, as you can tell from my other Delightful Bites post, these were definitely something unique, special and nothing like i've ever experienced before. Similarly to regular caramels we're all accustomed too, these goat milk caramels have a slightly different taste and texture to them. There's a distinct nutty/gritty taste to them, which I found very refreshing and different. While not everyone may like the "goatiness" of goat milk caramels, don't brush it off without giving it a try first-it's lifechanging! The reason why there's a different taste? Because not only does goat milk contain less lactose than cow's milk, but there's also different fats and proteins that are found in each type of milk, making the two different. The only time I've tried caramel made with goat's milk was from a product I received in my May Love With Food box, and it was absolutely fantastic. Happy Goat Caramels were no exception and completely surpassed my expectations. To begin, the coconut lime flavor was unusually brilliant-who would have ever thought of combining coconut and lime together with goat's milk to create a masterpiece? Not I for one. While the lime flavor comes off a little more stronger than the coconut flavor, the balance was essentially perfect. Next was the Winter Spice flavor-which was a mixture of various spices we typically see during the winter as the name suggest, which includes cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove and allspice. These babies could be enjoyed at any time of the year, let alone winter. All the different spices used created the perfect harmony in your mouth, one spice didn't completely overpower the other one, and none of the spices overpowered the natural taste of the caramel itself. Thirdly, the chocolate with sea salt caramel was another great hit, especially with my mom. Although the sea salt wasn't too noticeable, the rich chocolate-ly taste was definitely there and very noticeable. So smooth and creamy with that rich chocolate taste, wow! Lastly for the caramels, we tasted the original vanilla bean flavor. I always say simple is better so this was my favorite! The vanilla bean was intense and refreshing, and the caramel flavor was indefinitely perfect. All the caramels caused an explosion of flavors in my mouth, definitely not something I've ever felt eating other caramels-Winnike was right on! Nextly, I tried both of the caramel sauces they offered. The vanilla bean caramel sauce tasted just like the caramel candy, but in liquid form. My dad used this in our sundaes and oh my goodness, I think the angels came down and sang to me. Absolutely rich and delicious, and ridiculously creamy, I could live on this stuff. In addition the scotch caramel sauce was so delightful. The scotch itself is made with a 12-year-old single malt scotch and is abundantly present in the sauce. So flavorful and scotch-y, it was easily my dad's favorite thing. He loved how he still tasted the richness from the goat's milk, combined with the strong scotch flavor. HGC definitely did not hold back. These caramel sauces would easily make any fruit, dessert, or baked goods a million times better than they already are-SO addicting, I tell you!
♔RANDOM: My family and I thoroughly enjoyed each and every single product we tried from Happy Goat! Even the pickiest eaters, my siblings, came out of their shells and tried them out and have fallen head over heels for their tantalizing caramels. What's not to love though? From the simply adorable packaging to the uniqueness of goat's milk caramels and caramel sauces, it's really no wonder why they've been such a big hit among various food critics. I can guarantee you all that if my family loved it, it's a no-brainer that it'll be a huge hit among your family and friends.
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed trying out these delicious caramel products by the Happy Goat company. While I admit I was a little scared since I've never tried caramels out of the ordinary (outside of those made with cow's milk), these were undeniably some of the best caramels I've ever tasted and would probably prefer these over other caramels any day! If you can't wait for them to ship after ordering them online (I wouldn't blame ya!) , I've seen their products at Whole Foods Market and other various gourmet food shops across the Atlanta area, such as Alon's and more. What are you waiting for? Get yourself some now! You'll thank me later, trust me! ;). Keep on rocking hard with these handcrafted caramel products, Mr.Winnike. Don't forget, support local businesses!
